The Drum Magazine

The Drum magazine is an English-language South African family magazine aimed primarily at black readers, which features entertainment, business, and feature articles. The magazine also has two sister publications: Huisgenoot, which is aimed at white Afrikaans-speaking readers, and YOU, which targets the diverse English-speaking South African audience. Founded in 1951, the magazine began as the African Drum, which was a popular print publication with an estimated circulation of 240,000.

The drum magazine was designed to provide more rounds of ammunition than the typical box or 20-round magazine. The drum magazine’s disadvantages were that it required special tools to reload and it occupied more space. A box magazine, on the other hand, could be dropped from a rifle within seconds and shared with a friend. Furthermore, it allowed the shooter to reload in a much shorter time, which was vital during World War II and during the gangland era of Chicago.

The first issue of Drum Magazine reflected the social and political dynamics of urban Black South Africa. It was a powerful outlet for an emerging generation of writers and photographers and revolutionized the way Black people were represented in society. Currently, Drum is celebrating its 60th anniversary and continues to serve as an important source of information on a range of topics related to the black community in South Africa. These stories are the first glimpse into the fascinating world of the magazine and its history.

During the first years of the AR15, the most famous firearm to use a drum magazine was the Thompson submachine gun. This type of gun was popular during the 1930s, and it is still popular today. Drum magazines can hold up to 50 rounds, and there are also 30 round and 20 round box magazines. One of the most popular types of drum magazine is the Gen II AR-15. Its reinforced feed lips prevent the magazine from losing feed and are very durable. The drums come with a carrying case and graphite lube.

The drum magazine has a spring-loaded follower that continuously feeds ammunition into the gun’s chamber. Ammo is stored in a spiral around the center of the magazine. Loading a drum magazine is easier than loading a box magazine, but they’re not as convenient as a box magazine. While both magazines are great for self defense or range use, a drum magazine is better suited for fun purposes.

Another disadvantage to a drum magazine is its weight. Some shooters find them hard to mount on their guns, which makes them less convenient to use. Drum magazines in pistols are particularly difficult to shoot from a prone position. Additionally, they cost much more than box magazines. One drum magazine can cost as much as three or four box magazines. It is also more difficult to carry than a box magazine. However, some shooters find the drum magazine more enjoyable for their shooting style.
