Drums are a great instrument to play at any age. But, to get the best performance out of them, it’s important to learn how to setup your drum set. This can be a daunting task, but the right set up can make it a lot easier. It’s a good idea to get a few tips and tricks that will help you find the perfect set up.

When purchasing a drum kit, you’ll want to start with a solid base. You don’t want to buy a set that will inevitably break. Toy store drum kits are often made out of plastic, and you’ll want to ensure they’re made from sturdy materials. If you’re buying a kit online, make sure to check it out before you purchase. Most music stores have trained musicians who can assist you in making a sound decision.

Once you’ve found the kit that’s right for you, you’ll need to find a place for it to sit. The best way to do this is to find a hard shell case. However, if your drums move a lot, a case may not be necessary.

The most common size of crash cymbals is 16″, and you’ll be able to find larger sizes if you’re looking for a bigger sound. However, if you’re looking for a quieter, more delicate sound, you can try smaller crash cymbals. There’s a variety of sizes to choose from, including 14″, 18″, 20″ and 22″.

If you’re playing in a band, you’ll need to make sure that you have enough crashes. While there are some drummers who prefer to use two or three crash cymbals on a single kit, you can play powerful moments on just one crash at a time.

A ride cymbal is a larger cymbal played with the tip of the drum stick. It’s usually heavier, and the bell can be played with the shoulder of the drum stick for a louder ping sound. As a rule of thumb, the ride cymbal should be set up high so that it’s easy to reach the floor tom.

The throne or seat should be adjusted to fit your height. For younger drummers, you’ll want to make sure that they’re able to reach all components of the drum set. Usually, the throne is padded, and you should adjust it to a comfortable height.

If you aren’t sure where to get a throne, you can ask a friend to help you. Otherwise, you can always go to a music store to get a throne. Many music stores will have a staff drummer, but you can also visit a local drum shop for advice.

Keep in mind that when you’re learning, you’ll be spending a lot of time experimenting with your setup. Make sure that you don’t do anything that will interfere with your arm movements or with the way you play the drums. Also, make sure you listen to the drums at full volume before you buy.
